Our commitment

DEX Elements is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We're continually improving the experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards.

Conformance status

We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA on dexelements.com. This means perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust content — including for assistive technologies. The site is currently partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 AA. Parts of the interactive demos and embedded legacy content may not yet meet the standard in full.

What we've implemented

  • Semantic HTML throughout — headings, landmarks, lists, and labels
  • Single-H1-per-page structure with logical heading hierarchy
  • aria-label on icon-only buttons and interactive elements
  • aria-hidden="true" on decorative SVG icons
  • Keyboard-operable interactive elements (dropdown menus, forms, calculators)
  • Focus-visible outlines on all interactive elements
  • Color contrast ratios that meet or exceed 4.5:1 for body text
  • Responsive layouts that work at 320px width and 400% zoom
  • Reduced-motion respect via prefers-reduced-motion media query
  • Form labels associated with their inputs
  • Language declared in the root <html lang> attribute
  • Alternative language versions linked via hreflang

Known limitations

We're aware of the following areas where accessibility could still be improved:

  • Some interactive demos (the explore demo and the pitch decks) rely on visual state that isn't fully announced to screen readers. We're working on a text-equivalent overlay.
  • A few third-party embeds in blog posts may not meet our contrast or keyboard-navigation standards.
  • The animated fade-in effects on content load are subtle but present. They respect prefers-reduced-motion where we've implemented it, but the coverage isn't universal yet.

Assistive technology support

We test against recent versions of VoiceOver (macOS, iOS), NVDA (Windows), and keyboard-only navigation in Firefox and Chrome. If you use a different assistive technology and find a specific issue, please let us know.

Report an accessibility issue

If you find an accessibility problem on any DEX Elements page, we want to know. Use the contact form and include:

  • The page URL
  • A description of the issue
  • The assistive technology (if any) and browser you were using

We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within 5 business days and address them in the next content or code release, typically within 30 days.

Third-party content

Parts of the site embed third-party resources (fonts, feed readers, analytics tools we may add later). We evaluate these for accessibility compliance before adoption. We don't currently use any third-party tracking or advertising scripts.

Standards we follow

  • WCAG 2.1 — Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, Level AA
  • WAI-ARIA 1.2 — for dynamic content and custom widgets
  • The European Accessibility Act (EAA, Directive 2019/882) — requirements for public-sector and consumer-facing services

Feedback

We treat accessibility issues as bugs, not feature requests. If you reach out, we will. Reach us via the contact form.
