Oracle Forms modernization: 8 options, 10 criteria, scored honestly

Toggle the criteria that matter to your situation. The matrix re-scores each option in real time. We score DEX honestly — including the criteria where DEX is not the best fit. We'd rather lose a poorly-fit deal than ship a failed project.

How we score

Every cell is rated 0–4. The score is based on engagement data (where we have it), public information (pricing tiers, deployment models, runtime architecture), and the structural properties of each approach. Where we lack first-hand data, we err toward the most generous reading of the alternative.

When you toggle a criterion off, that row is removed from the average. The "best fit" winner is whichever tool has the highest average across the criteria you selected.

Where we score DEX poorly: Cost (APEX is cheaper if you stay on Oracle), and Learning curve (Retool and AI builders are faster to get started with). We'd rather show you the trade-offs than hide them.

Where we score competitors generously: Mendix and OutSystems get a 2 on inspectability because their visual models genuinely are reviewable — even though the lock-in is real. Manual rewrite gets a 4 on customization ceiling because nothing constrains you when you write everything yourself.
